SPECIAL FEATURES

• The sonic servodriver can interact with machinery and other electronics using a harmonic resonance of particle disturbance.
  
• It is a moderately universal tool, not a weapon. 
• Its primary functions involve short-range scanning, short-range systems analysis and energy flow measurement, computer interaction and the opening of locks and doors.
  
• In emergencies, it can also function as an impromptu transmitter.

Weaknesses:

• Anything or state that would impede the creating of a harmonic resonance, such as insulation or a chaotic system, will cause difficulties for the sonic servodriver. 
  
• The sonic servodriver's normal scanning range is relatively short, a matter of meters if not centimeters.
  
• Some electronic locks are too heavily secured for the sonic servodriver.
  
• Although some computer interface functions are possible with skilled use of the sonic servodriver, reprogramming and slicing are impossible. Some computer security systems can be bypassed in certain ways using the sonic servodriver.

DESCRIPTION

The canonical 'Sonic Wrench', while lacking detail, is implied to use sonic effects to create mechanical repair effects. The sonic servodriver is a natural exploration of this concept. It is within the realm of 'generic' science fiction, and so product identity is not an issue. As will be shown, the concept is a reasonable extrapolation of established Star Wars canon. 

In-Universe Rationale:

• From sonic jammer technology, the sonic servodriver is capable of interfering with electronic systems. 
• From sonic shower technology, sonic technology can be capable of inducing vibratory states and resonance harmonics. These resonance harmonics are, canonically, sufficient to separate dissimilar materials. 
• From standard solid weapon technology, sonic technology can be capable of directing very small amounts of physical movement, as with electronic switches, using sonic waves.
  
• From sonic dissipator and sonic nullifier technology, sonic technology can be capable of active response and nullification of powerful sounds. The relevant portion of the technology is its ability to recognize and respond to vibrations, harmonics and noises.
• From sonic probe technology, sonic technology can be capable of scanning functions.
  
• From sonic wrench technology, sonic technology can be capable of mechanical repair functions.
