SPECIAL FEATURES
-Endorian Nightwood is somewhat questionable on if its sentient or not. It is generally accepted as being a type of vegetation, as it has shown no ability to communicate, however it tends to grow in ways that are incredible creative or signs of learning. This makes it very good for directed growth, essentially able to teach it to grow certain ways which they can use. Additionally the Blackwood seems to give off a presence detectable by non force users, but which is even stronger to force users. This is however not entirely accurate, the Nightwoods do possess the ability to think to some extent, but have such a unique language through the force or growth patterns that it doesn’t translate into Basic or even to most telepaths. They are capable of sensing through the force, which is what gives the vague feeling of being watched when in the woods. It's also such a basic form of thought, and could mostly only be classified as Semi-Sentience if discovered.
-Nightwood is very durable. Able to stand up somewhat to most weapons, even able to offer some resistance to lightsabers. This makes it useful for almost any situation. Allowing the wood to take on a lot more than most weapons.
-Force resistance: Nightwood seems to possess a greater resistance than expected for a non sentient creature. The trees tend to resist attempts at manipulating them through the force and seem to have quite a considerable amount of ability to do so. Though it does not prevent force use entirely, nor create a field like Ysilmir do.
-Energy consumption: In spite of having roots, Nightwoods actually rely entirely on energy to survive. In particular in regards to heat, radiation, and electricity. This allows them to survive while being worn as armor, but also means they have a greater resistance to such attacks. This gets turned into matter for them to survive.
-Psychedelic fruit: the Nightwood produces a type of fruit that is incredibly sweet and uniquely flavored. Inside these however are the seeds, which can cause most species to experience extreme hallucinogenic experiences.
-Healing/Growth: Nightwood actually grows fairly quickly, in particular in when close to more Nightwood. It depends a lot on how much it has to feed on. It grows fast enough to grow around a meter in six hours.
Strengths:
-High resistance to energy as it tends to absorb it to use it for energy. Feeds on energy.
-High growth/healing speed
-A level of force resistance.
-Is technically sentient and can communicate with other Nightwoods through growth patterns and the Force.
-Produces a sweet edible fruit, within which is hallucinogenic seeds.
-Can survive many types of environments
-Natural high resistance to electricity, not allowing it to pass.
-Can be taught to grow a certain way.
Weaknesses:
*Over consumption: Nightwood can overeat energy, just as most plants can drown in water. The Result of this would be that it starts to fall apart on some pieces while remaining very hot, as it cannot eat the energy and ends up trying to rid itself of the damaged tissue that contains the energy.
*Starvation: If not allowed to either sit in light, or be hit with energy, Nightwood will eventually starve. This causes it to become stiff and begin to shrink as it tries to keep itself alive. The End result is a dry, deteriorated
*Pain: Nightwoods don’t like feeling depression and immense sadness or desperation to get out of pain from other species or each other. As a result, even if it costs them energy, if the individual is close, they will grow over them and attempt to suffocate and crush them to end their suffering. It’s slow enough that it could be escaped if you realized it was happening and weren’t in the middle of a forest, but the strength they posses means if they did get a hold of the head it’d probably kill you in seconds. This makes them a potentially dangerous thing to use as armor unless you have a layer underneath it, or trust your emotions enough to be able to stop a feeling such as that if they start to squeeze. Nightwoods do not attempt to kill all things that experience pain or extreme emotion. Only when there is a desperation for escape or stopping of the
*Not a biological weapon: Due to the fact it doesn't grow quite fast enough, and gives off a unique presence even to non force sensitives, Endorian Nightwood could not effectively be used as a biological weapon in it's normal form. As it would be too easy to detect before it could do anything important.
DESCRIPTION
Endorian Nightwood is a type of tree native to Endor. It is relatively common and covers a large portion of the planets surface, though gravitates heavily towards hotter and more sun available climates. Even if no other vegetation is present. It grows to considerable heights, mostly stopped only by when its height overcomes its strength, or a powerful enough wind means it simply can't keep itself upright anymore. The unusual trees are known for being a bad place to go if in a very poor mood, as they have a tendency for growing quickly towards those of very poor and extreme emotional feelings, in order to silence them. The lightwoods are mostly known off world for their fruit and hallucination inducing seeds. However Shadow Industries has taken place as one of the main companies to take advantage of the trees unusual properties, setting up shop on part of the planet in order to grow and use more of them.
