DESCRIPTION
Usually found mounted on atmospheric vehicles, the T-450 is a belt-fed slug autocannon filling the role of supporting the infantry or protecting its surroundings against lightly armored tanks or aircraft. Originally meant to be anti-personnel, its development began after the outbreak of the Dread wars. Faced with large numbers of enemy personnel clad in blaster resistant armor, Atrisian infantry lacked effective means of combating the threat, allowing Teriyaki Industries to step in with a hastily designed weapon. While incredibly effective against armor, the gun's extreme weight and the amount of ammunition it can consume when fired made it extremely difficult for an ordinary soldier to carry and operate. It did, however, gain popularity among those soldiers with cybernetically enhanced muscle and bone structure. The T-450 usually found itself mounted on vehicles, negating the impossible recoil and eliminating the need to carry heavy belts of ammo in hand. When mounted, it is possible to connect the weapon to targetting systems and turn it into a turret. 20 mm slugs of depleted baradium are used as the weapon’s ammunition, especially useful for penetration because they are self-sharpening and flammable. Upon striking an armored target, the tip of the slug shatters in such a way that it remains sharp. The impact and following release of heat energy causes it to ignite.
