After the end of the galactic empire, many slave rebellions took place, as well as the passing of galactic treaties that were anti-slavery. As a result, the slave trade (which has always been a very lucrative business for the Hutts) was crippled. In the chaos that followed, the Hutt syndicates faded into obscurity. That was until the infamous Nem'ro the Hutt, on Nal-Hutta, had a "son" named Fruka. Over the years, Fruka learned the ways his "father" ran business, and how to truly be a Hutt. Fruka grew up to be a very ambitious Hutt. Yearning for opportunity, he left Hutta for the booming ecumonopolis of Nar-Shadaa. When he arrived he began his rise to power as the dominant crime lord of Nar-Shadaa (which only took him a matter of decades). With power established, Fruka wanted more. He contacted his father, and promised Nem'ro dominion over Nal-Hutta for loyalty to him. Nem'ro accepts his son's proposition, and becomes the first Hutt Lord of the Hutt Cartel's rebirth, and Fruka becoming the first Chairman of the Hutt Council. This rebirth of the Hutt Cartel is to get back to as much of the old ways as possible, while somewhat abiding by new galactic standards of this new era. The Hutts then started to be diplomatic in their persuit to become a recognized power in the galaxy. The Hutt Cartel conducted diplomacy with former allies, Clan Kyr'am of the Mandalorians. The Mandalorian clansmen supported the Hutts, as the Hutts have always provided great job opportunities for strong, capable mercenaries. Next, the Hutts aligned themselves commercially with the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS) in order to gain military strength though allied assistance. In order to increase the size of its mercenary army, the Hutt Cartel then contacted the Bounty Hunters Guild (BHG). The BHG, due to their recognition of the Hutt's financial advantages in terms of providing job opportunities for mercenaries. Then, order to cozy up to the Mandalorians some more, the Hutts reached out to Clan Betna. Clan Betna accpeted the alliance as well, which provides job opportunities for more eager Mandalorians, and more mercenaries for the Hutts to call upon. Soon after that, the recognition of the Union of Greater Tion, the Tionese leaders reached out to the Hutts for a corporate alliance, which the Hutts galdly accepted. The more alliances with corporate powers in the galaxy, the better Hutt business becomes. Now recognized, the revived Hutt Cartel is slowly consuming its rightful claim of Hutt Space. Their campaign of expansion has just begun. Thanks to the casino revenue on Nar-Shadaa, the industrial chemicals from Quesh, and the free trade hub of Nal-Hutta, the Hutt Cartel will certainly have credits aplenty to achieve their goal of uniting Hutt Space under their rule, and conducting business with any who are willing.
