SPECIAL FEATURES
*Force Backfire: Use of the force inside the cage is absorbed and then reflected back at the user inside the field with even more force, even minor things like trying to lift a rock can result in the field absorbing the force used on the rock, and instead pressing it against the user. This is especially effective against more offensive powers like lightning and telekinesis, throwing it all back in the face of the user with even more force. More vague powers like technopathy, illusions, and the like, tend to result in a pressure like shove against the force user. And powers like telepathy tend to result in it pressing back against their minds preventing them from reaching out beyond the field or to others within it. More self affected abilities like healing may work, but only on extremely low levels. Attempting to revive someone near death would most certainly fail unless they have a lot of time on their hands. But trying to heal a small cut or something would not. Some force enhanced condition might work, but it’d be almost impossible to notice a difference.
*Repulsor field: In order to hold down individuals inside, this constant pressure holds down most beings, or at least makes it difficult to move around. This is also what prevents them from escaping through the lack of physical barriers, as the closer they get to the edges, the stronger the fields become.
*Device Shielding: The individual devices used, once activated, are surrounded by Reflection Emitter and Deflector shields, in order to hold out both physical and energy based assaults. The Reflection Emitters extremely powerful response to matter makes attacking it with material assaults essentially pointless until it runs out of battery. The Deflector shields are somewhat more vulnerable, but can stand up to some medium powered energy based attacks before failing eventually.
*Encirclement: The devices have to connect , creating a total sphere using three or more devices that automatically generate the shielding that causes the force reaction. This is a visible electric like looking field that creates a static sound and grows louder when the force is used against it, internally or externally. If individuals get nearer to the edges of the field, anything that moves that wasn't in the same position at the beginning, or any living tissue, it also generates powerful electrical shocks that can stun, burn, or even kill, most individuals. When there is existing non living matter in the way, it will continue to form the sphere, though it might be hidden. For things that are non living but are near the fields edge or in its path when it activates, it tends to not produce the electrical shock. However it will still generate a shock if something goes near it.
*Devices: The devices themselves are cylindrical devices around 1 foot long each and four inches thick. They can be hooked up however to larger generators that come with them, in order to extend their time and range. They automatically hook up to each other in order to generate fields that contain force users and force powers, in order to both physically and contain the force powers of a force user. They do contain a built in battery, but require the generators for greater time.
Strengths:
*Force Backfire: Use of the force inside the cage, or at the cage, is absorbed and then reflected back at the user inside with even more force. More unique powers like technopathy and telepathy tend to result in a more pressure based response.
*Physical containment: Using repulsor fields and electrical shocks it can physically contain almost any individual regardless of physical strength.
*Are able to be carried around as small cylinders which can connect to others automatically to generate the shields. Meaning one doesn’t have to actually get close to their target to contain them.
*Can be hooked up to generators for extended time and distance use.
*Can actually be fired into the air to land at a point in order to avoid having to land them down by hand. Automatically grip into the ground or magnetically attach to walls.
*Shielding and Reflection Emitter protect the cylinder when activated. And durasteel exterior assists when they run out.
*Sealed to prevent damage from water.
*Remote control on highly encoded frequency and directions is the only way to turn it on and off without the battery time running out. Meant to avoid hacking. And since if the target is inside, they would be unable to use technopathy on the remote.
*One can be used on its own, as it can protect itself, and prevent use of the force, and mostly keep individuals inside the field, however they do not hold them in place like a full set of three or more would. And last an even shorter time.
Weaknesses:
*Battery time: Without the Generators, the Force Traps only last around five to ten minutes. The more they have to expend their field, the sooner it fails. Once the shield goes down it all goes down, and anyone inside is completely free to use their powers again.
*Distance: Using just the cylinders, the longest it can reach is around fifteen meters in diameter with three, and if they are put at that distance, will fail in just five minutes. The Generators can extend this to around 30 meters with three cylinders, and around fifteen to twenty minutes. The more cylinders added, the larger the distance can be.
*On their own using one is not very efficient, they’d create their own field with just around a seven meter diameter. This could technically work and contain one force powers, but would the ability to hold them in place and only be able to shock them as they reached the edge and protect itself, it would also only last a few minutes. Meaning they could still move freely within that sphere for the next few minutes. Two Cylinders also can’t be used together, as they are unable to properly generate a sphere with only two connecting points, resulting in warping and occasionally openings.
*They are not invulnerable to energy attacks, and repeating medium or high blaster fire on the cylinders would eventually break through the deflector shields, and then through the durasteel.
*If used in water, unless the water is immensely still, it may generate constant shocks because of how the water moves near it.
DESCRIPTION
Designed during the Dread Wars with the knowledge they would be a fantastic weapon against the force wielding soldiers, the Force Traps were based off the idea of a Universal Energy Cage that was used to entrap Jedi. However, the physical requirements that the Universal Energy Cages had prevented them from being used effectively in combat, and only good for holding them afterwards. The Traps were designed to generate a field that created the same superconductive energy feedback that the Universal Energy Cages possessed, but on a more efficient level and over a greater distance. They had to be further added with more technology such as better repulsor fields, protection against their own damage, and an entrapment field since it lacked physical barriers. While this all did exactly what they were designed to do, it had two major flaws. They only lasted around five to ten minutes without extra generators due to the energy output, and even with small generators they only lasted around 20 minutes at best. They also still had a limited distance, and generally required preparation to set up, meaning they didn’t put a non force user on par with a skilled force user unless they were very well equipped or capable. This makes them especially difficult to use in battle.
In order to prevent having someone just come up and disable them, they are remotely connected through highly encrypted coding and frequencies to a remote, which is the only way to activate or disable them unless they run out of power or somehow got destroyed. The design of the coding also means trying to hack into either one would be almost impossible.
